Papo produces a very fine model of Dilophosaurus in this years 2014 release. I am a big fan of Papo they have some of the finest detailed dinosaur models with the best sculpt, fine detail and great colour in my opinion. I look forward to the 2015 range. Fast and friendly service from Everything Dinosaur as always.

Dilophosaurus, brought spectacularly to life by Papo! Whilst a lot of their dinos are Jurassic Park inspired, this figure appears to have come from the same brilliant imagination and talent that spawned Papo’s Allosaurus. Indeed, it’s probably fairly close to being to scale with that model! It’s an altogether more modern-looking replica than many of Papo’s dinosaur range. It’s also fairly anatomically correct, being long and slinky, and had the Dilophosaurus in Jurassic Park been depicted like this model, then the sinister creature imagined by Michael Crichton in his novel may have been more truly realised. It would certainly have been more terrifying! The sculpt is characteristically superb, and the model is beautiful from every angle. The paint work is subtle, very finely layered and complex; it’s sheer quality, and effective without being too heavily patterned or colourful, with the crests picked out in striking red, yellow and black. Skin texture is excellent and has a very pleasing sheen. The pose of the model is very much caught in the act of life, possibly either threatening or submitting to another member of its own species, rather than just standing dumbly as many models do. It certainly captures the Essence Of Dinosaur, so tangible yet hard to define, which awes and inspires our own species the world over!
