Arguably the most well researched depiction of Velociraptor currently available! No “shrink wrapping”, and a thicker plumage than most reconstructions, make this model appear almost as though it could have been taken from life…there is something of a feel of the red fox crossed with a hawk, which seems very appropriate for this small, powerful predator. It’s not perfect, but it’s so much closer than anything else, and natural history museums would do very well to follow Doug Watson’s sculptural lead with this one. A must-have model for collectors, and great for educational purposes! The only negative: as with the stunning Safari Ltd feathered T. rex, great care must be taken with the beautiful paintwork, which brushes off very easily. Buy two, and save one for best!
