Today I got my CollectA Delux 1:40 Therizinosaurus model (together with the Mojo Fun Crocodile – check it out too!) from Everything Dinosaur. As always, the service was excellent, the delivery was fast, and the figure arrived with the Everything Dinosaur fact sheet and bubble wrap (additional fun).
So far I had CollectA Delux Triceratops and Styracosaurus and they were superb! They were very accurate, with very fine details and impressive bulk. So I decided to have myself the CollectA Delux Therizinosaurus – a strange theropod – which may not be so familiar to the general public. Since I am not an expert on theropods I cannot judge scrutintly if it is accurate but after doing some research with various reconstructions on the internet and paleoart, it seems pretty accurate. The level of detail is good, especially when considering it is very hard to recreate in PVC downy feathers. I especially liked the scythe-like claws: they are stiff and impressive, invoking the sharpness that they probably had in life. The pose is impressive and dynamic (it raises its scythe-like claws in a threatening manner) and it is great for display and play alike (and it is stable too, despite being bipedal). I was a bit disappointed with the colors: the body and hands were too creamy for my taste, and I think the claws should have a distinct color (greyish or dark brown), but I did like the blue and green feathers, which make it more vivid. But overall it is an impressive figure: big, detailed, pretty accurate, and well-sculpted. I am pleased with it. Do I recommend it? Yes!

Beautifully detailed sculpt and a representation of a very different beast from your common or garden dinosaur. Amazingly well balanced on his hind legs too for all his bulk! Excellent addition to my collection.

It’s big, it’s bright, and it’s an impressive addition to a collection. Nicely sculpted and detailed. Somewhat reminiscent of a giant sloth. Certainly one of the best Therizinosaurus models available, and a very pleasing figure all round!

When my package arrived, I had no idea how big this guy was…until now!! This gigantic Therizinosaurus blows the smaller one out of the water! The detail is fantastic, with every feather and scale visible, the colour scheme is very bright and exuberant, probably meaning this is a male. CollectA have done it again, and I look forward to more awesome models in the future.
